Work may include but not limited to: Pruning and picking of apples, must be able to move ladders that can weigh up to 100 pounds through trees without damage to trees or apples. Must be able to pick 8 bushels or more per hour of good apples. Spot picking for color and size with no more then 5% bruising. All workers have to receive food safety training and worker protection training. This training will be provided by employer at no cost. There will be no food or drink allowed in work place, except for portable water. No cell phones or ear buds allowed in work place in accordance with Food Safety Plan. Not following Food Safety Plan could result in termination of contract.

This job is best suited to fast/careful individuals. Some apple harvest will be conducted without ladders or picking drops. Normal harvest using ladders and from the ground are at a higher piece rate. Picking apples from the tops of the trees only with ladders will be at a higher rate. Harvesting Honey Crisp and carefully clipping the stems is at the highest rate. Quality standards are expected to be met after the 1/2 day training. Production standards will increase from 50% to 75% to 100% by the third day. The crew manager will explain the minimum size and percentage of color for quality standards each day along with consistently monitoring bruising which must be less than 5 %. Equipment driving is optional, you do not need to drive to be successful at this job.

Harvest vegetables. Harvest tree fruit using a ladder and picking bucket. Workers will be required to lift approximately 50 pounds while ascending and descending a ladder on a sustained basis. Place ladders (up to 24 feet) against a tree limb, climb ladder, secure footing and pick fruit carefully placing it into picking bucket. Climb down the ladder and gently empty fruit into designated field container. Fruit should not be squeezed or handled roughly to avoid bruising. Will be a Delimber Operator.\nWorker must operate a track or tire mounted mechanical delimber. Must be able to identify trees according to species and sort them to designated piles. Retrieves unlimbed trees from a road side yard, delimbs them and places them in an orderly manner for easy retrieval by the loading crane. Must have the ability to work as a three member team and maintain productive as a team. Must be able to operate carrier vehicle. Must perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment daily. Will be an Operating Engineer. This occupation consists of building and maintaining logging roads. Employees will operate bulldozers, motor graders, front end loaders, chainsaws, dump or tractor trailer trucks, excavators, cranes, and other similar road construction equipment. Worker must hold a valid class A or B drivers license. Workers may be required to move road building equipment as associated with building logging roads. Workers must be able to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and do daily maintenance on equipment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have two years of referenced, paid experience as an operating engineer in relations to building logging roads. Must be in good health and physical condition. Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Working in various areas of our fresh processing production line when our wild blueberries arrive at our processing plant in Machias, Maine. Positions on our fresh processing line include cleaning wild blueberries of the floor with shovels, working on shakers where you would stand by a automatic machine and pick debris off the shaker and see the wild blueberries go through the fresh line properly, you could be trained to operate a forklift, you could be working on our fresh receiving dock receiving the berries with a manual pallet jack and bringing them to the scale to get weighed. Other jobs may include working on the frozen end our our processing plant where the berries are packaged into totes for rework later or into boxes that go to the consumer. Those jobs would include making totes or boxes for the production line and stacking 30 lb boxes on a pallet.
