Agriculture Equipment Operator to operate equipment used to harvest watermelon. Must have the correct type of license required by State and Federals laws, and drivers responsible for transporting workers will be required to have a valid and unexpired Federal Farm Labor Contractor or Federal Farm Labor Contractor Employee Registration with driving authorization. Will be responsible for operating the vehicles used to move crops on the farm. Must be able to safely operate the buses that are used to transport workers to and from work sites. Should be able to provide proof of accident-free driving record and background. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Operating large farm equipment and machinery equipped with GPS for tilling, cultivating, fertilizing, planting, storing, harvesting oilseed crops such as irrigated seed corn and waxy corn; harvesting crops; repairs and maintenance on equipment to ensure appropriate operation in field; daily maintenance on irrigation, checking water heads, for watering crops; driving farm vehicle to obtain inputs for growing crops.

Operate John Deere tractors with precision GPS (Greenstar) for growing crops; control irrigation to water crops in warm weather, scout fields to assess crop maturity, pest presence, and nutrient requirements; operate Lenco and Spudnik harvesters to harvest potatoes at correct moisture content, operate PIC Rite 290 harvester for harvesting tomatoes, operate Caterpillar front end loaders, drive truck or tractor with trailer attached to move crops to designated locations; unload crops into storage; end of harvest season cleanup and winterization of all equipment
Harvesting of Vegetables: Once at the picking location, doing a row at a time, workers will move down the rows plucking the crop from the plants and putting them in a container. Once the container is full the worker will take the container to the truck and dump the content. The worker will go back to his picking area and fill his container up again, repeating the process through the work day.\nGeneral Field Maintenance: Workers on physical work restrictions or when harvesting work is not available may be required to perform miscellaneous clean-up work on work site property, on structures utilized in the work site operation, and on housing for harvesting workers. Such clean-up activities include the sprouting, pruning, and painting of trees; debris, weed, and vine removal; irrigation repair; housing and structure cleaning and repair. The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in a possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands repeatedly. The employer will provides the tools necessary (if applicable) to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker’s refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due such worker’s willful damage or destruction of the tools.\n\nWorkers that qualify may be required to operate Agriculture Machinery or Equipment.\n \nGeneral farm upkeep and maintenance such as painting, fixing, cleaning, and organizing out building and equipment. \n\nEmployees may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Workers will be trained for period of two (2) days (14 hours) after which workers will be expected to perform job required. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent bruising or breaking crops. Care must also be exercised with any use of equipment.

Sorters are responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly, while performing reach motion with arms and hands, twisting at the waist, stoop, talk and hear - while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to continuous elevated noise levels and moving conveyors.\n\nGreen Corn Dump: Daily activities include unloading of ear corn trucks, taking barrel and moisture samples, documentation of received loads, cleaning out trucks, kernel cleaning dump equipment, and housekeeping and other duties as assigned.\n\nHusking Bed Operator: Monitor and maintain flow of ear corn through husking beds in Husk Sort Building and complete kernel cleans of husk sort line along with housekeeping and other duties as assigned.\n\nBin Fill (Dry Roofs): Monitor ear corn flow into dryer bin and switch bins when the correct depth is reached and housing and other duties as assigned.\n\nBin Unload Day: Unload dryer bin sending ear corn to shelter, kernel clean dryer bin, soring dry ear corn, and housekeeping and other duties as assigned. The crew will be split into teams, each working from one of the dryer complexes sending corn to the shelling lines.\n\nBin Unload Night: Unload dryer bin sending ear corn to shelter, kernel clean dryer bin, soring dry ear corn, and housekeeping and other duties as assigned. Operate tractors and other farm equipment during planting, spraying and harvesting season of corn and soybeans. We also require that employees operate combines during the harvesting season. Drive semi-truck to haul harvested crops to grain bins, elevators and storage areas. Do infield repairs on equipment.
We are a 4th generation family farming business. We farm nearly 4,000 acres of soybeans, corn, wheat and alfalfa. We need seasonal employees to assist with all aspects of growing these crops. Job duties would include driving a tractor in the field for the purposes of disking, mowing, raking, bailing, etc as well as running the grain cart in the fall for harvest time. General cleaning of semis and tractors inside and outside, as well as other equipment. Employees will also be cleaning and keeping the barns and grain elevator system tidy during the busy harvest season. Employees will complete general farm duties as assigned. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. \n
Worker will plant, cultivate, and harvest tobacco by hand. Worker will also plant and maintain tobacco plugs in greenhouses. Worker must be able to lift 50 lbs and have 3 months experience in tobacco farming.

Upon its arrival, it is unloaded by a group of workers and placed on a conveyer belt. The group of workers on the conveyer belt are responsible for sorting, labeling, and packing the atermelon in cardboard containers. While the workers are waiting on the next load of watermelons to arrive, they will be responsible for assembling card board containers.\n\nPumpkin Hand Harvesting & Field Packing-In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to walk down the field row and use a pair of loppers to hand cut ripe pumpkins off the vine for harvesting. The pumpkins are then loaded in a flat truck by forming part of an assembly line, in which the first worker bends down picks up the pumpkin and it is passed on to consecutive workers by passing, catching, lifting, until it reaches the worker on the loading truck, who then sets it down and stacks them inside a cardboard bin until it is full.\n\nCanteloupe Hand Harvesting- In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to walk down the field row and find the ripe cantaloupe based on texture and color specifications given by supervisor. The ripe cantaloupes are picked off the vine by hand. The cantaloupes are then loaded in a bus by forming part of an assembly line, in which the first worker bends down picks up the canteloupe and it is passed on to consecutive workers by passing, catching, lifting, until it reaches the worker on the loading truck, who then sets it down and stacks them inside a bin until it is full.\n\nCorn Hand Harvesting- In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to walk down the field row and look for the ripe corn and cut the crop off the plant by pulling in a downward motion. The corn is then placed in harvesting crates until full. The worker then takes the full crates to the loader on the loading truck. They are given an empty crate and the process is started again.\n\nCorn Packing-The corn is transported to the packing shed. Upon its arrival, the crates are unloaded by a forklift and placed on a conveyer belt. The conveyor belt dumps the corn out of the crates onto another conveyor belt. The group of workers on the conveyer belt are responsible for sorting, labeling, assembling the crates and packing the corn in crates according to specifications given by the supervisor.\n\nPumpkin, Gourd, and Winter Squash Hand Harvesting-In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to walk down the field row and use a knife and hand cut the ripe pumpkins and gourds off the vine for harvesting. The pumpkins and gourds are then stacked inside a bucket until it is full. The bucket is taken to the loader on the loading truck to be emptied. The empty bucket is given back to the worker and the process is started again.\n\nA properly licensed worker will be required to transport workers to and from work each day. A properly trained worker will assist in operating various farm equipment to assist with farm labor. A qualified worker may be requested to be a working team leader.

Job duties include the operation of various farm equipment to till land, harvest crops, and haul crops to the storage area. Equipment that employees will operate includes but is not limited to combines, grain cart, semi trucks, tractors with various implements attached, hopper bottom trailer, tilling equipment, and drying equipment. Employees will handle grain, load and unload semi trucks as needed, and logging loads into and out of the facility. Manual duties include maintenance on equipment including greasing, fueling, and basic repairs to keep the machine operational; basic repairs and maintenance of augers/belts; checking moisture; calibrating dryer, checking storage capacity; power washing equipment; equipment repairs; cleaning the shop and grain facility; fueling trucks, tractors, and combine; greasing combine; grain cart greasing fittings; grain facility power washing dryer tower; sweeping around unload/load out areas; repairing/replacing belts; and climbing legs and bins for maintenance. Job requires having or being able to obtain a driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. Pay increase or bonus may be possible to employees depending on experience or merit and are at the sole discretion of the employer.
Shovel accumulated deposits of snow on an ongoing basis in extreme weather conditions on various properties, operate snowblower. Organize and prepare stock of holiday decor material. Install holiday lighting to houses, buildings, trees and take down and store in the warehouse facility. Lift up to 50 lbs.

HAND PICKING CORN PLACING THEM IN BAGS
Vegetables: The worker will have the task of planting vegetable plants, which requires workers to be bent over for long periods of time for many hours per day. The worker, in order to perform this kind of work, must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the picking process rapidly, the employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools. To harvest watermelon or vegetables by hand, the worker will walk down the field rows where the product will be harvested. The worker will first cut the vine off the watermelon or vegetable with a small knife and turn the watermelon over or place the vegetable in their bucket. For watermelon: The worker will bend over harvesting the ripe watermelon which can vary in weight from 20lbs to 60lbs from the ground and tossing the watermelon to the worker next to him and this worker will toss the watermelon to the next worker and so on, until the watermelon is then tossed the person inside the bus who will place the watermelon on the floor, loaded buses will be transported by farm field driver to the packing location on the farm. The cantaloupes are then loaded in a bus by forming part of an assembly line, in which the first worker bends down picks up the canteloupe and it is passed on to consecutive workers by passing, catching, lifting, until it reaches the worker on the loading truck, who then sets it down and stacks them inside a bin until it is full.\n\nCorn Hand Harvesting- In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to walk down the field row and look for the ripe corn and cut the crop off the plant by pulling in a downward motion. The corn is then placed in harvesting crates until full. The worker then takes the full crates to the loader on the loading truck. They are given an empty crate and the process is started again.\n\nCorn Packing-The corn is transported to the packing shed. Upon its arrival, the crates are unloaded by a forklift and placed on a conveyer belt. The conveyor belt dumps the corn out of the crates onto another conveyor belt. Workers will be required to cut wood and carry to barn to fire the tobacco. Wooden slabs covered with sawdust are placed under the tobacco that is hanging in barn. Workers will be trained for period of two (2) days (14 hours) after which workers will be expected to perform job required, i.e. cut 100 sticks per hour. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent bruising or breaking crops. Care must also be exercised in using tobacco knives and spears, while climbing and standing on barn rails, or with any use of equipment.

Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh and count products and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure that the specifications are met. Clean and maintain work areas. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practice policies. Perform\nprolonged bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40lbs.The worker must be able to walk down the field row and look for in field the cantalopes, corn, face pumpkins, spooky pumpkins,pie pumpkins, Gourds&JBL, pumpkins (bulk) cut the crop off the plant by pulling in a downward motion. Grove Clean-up and duties: Workers may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean-up work. These activities may included removing debris, boxes, discarded fruit from fields to clean growing area , pruning, pull weeds painting trees, repair and or replace irrigation equipment , may maintain fence lines and moving farm equipment . Workers performing grove clean-up work will be paid the adverse effect wage rate, the prevailing rate minimum wage rate, the agreed upon collective bargaining wage or the Federal or State minimum wage which ever is higher, except where a special procedure is approved for an occupation or specific class of agricultural employment.. A copy of the work contract or a copy of the ETA 790 in lieu of a work contract, and any modifications , will be provided to the worker on the day the work commences.
The worker will perform job duties as assigned by supervisor. They will vary from time to time depending on crop ripening and weather. The watermelon planting, field work, harvesting, and packing is temporary and will last from July to October \n\nWatermelon Hand Harvesting-In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to walk down the field row and use a knife to hand cut ripe watermelons off the vine for harvesting. The watermelons are then loaded in a bus by forming part of an assembly line, in which the first worker bends down picks up the watermelon and it is passed on to consecutive workers by passing, catching, lifting, until it reaches the worker on the bus, who then sets it down and stacks them until the bus is considered full. \n\nWatermelon Packing- The watermelon is transported by bus to the packing shed. Upon its arrival, it is unloaded by a group of workers and placed on a conveyer belt. The group of workers on the conveyer belt are responsible for sorting, labeling, and packing the watermelon in cardboard containers. While the workers are waiting on the next load of watermelons to arrive, they will be responsible for assembling card board containers. \n\nField Drivers-The field drivers will drive the buses out to the field where the field workers who are harvesting the watermelon will load the watermelon on to the bus until full. They will then drive the fully loaded bus back to the packing shed where the packing shed workers will unload them onto a belt. The process is then repeated again.\n\nFarm Equipment and Vehicle Operation-The workers may need to drive and/or operate various agricultural farm equipment and vehicles to perform the work on the farm such as field trucks, tractors, and forklifts. The workers\nmust use safety and precaution when using agricultural farm equipment and vehicles. All passengers must be seated and practice safety and precaution. The passengers must wait to exit the agricultural farm equipment and vehicles when the driver comes to a complete stop and gets off the vehicle. The workers will keep the agricultural farm equipment and vehicles free of trash. Only properly licensed drivers will be permitted to operate the agricultural farm equipment and vehicles. Workers must take care to operate all equipment safely and follow all safety requirements\noutlined by the employer. The workers may also need to transport workers to and from work each day from the employer provided housing and serve as a team leader.\n\nAll of the watermelon harvesting, packing, and transporting labor is performed on a farm specifically in the work-sites listed on the application and itinerary and are all a part of the watermelon farming operation. The field drivers, which are employees of Marin J. Corp. are the ones that drive the buses being used in the field to load the watermelons and take them to the shed for packing. The packing shed workers are employees of Marin J. Corp. The packing shed is located on the farms listed on the harvesting itinerary. The packing of watermelons is considered agriculture labor because the work is being done on a farm and the watermelons are a horticultural commodity that must be packed by grade before leaving the farm for selling purposes at the market. The watermelons are in unmanufactured state at the time of packing and all the watermelons are produced on the farm. Marin J. Corp. is the operator of the farms for the time period requested.\n\n\n

We farm 3,000 acres of seed corn, commercial corn, soybeans, milo, and tomatoes. This is a combination of ground farmed with machinery usage to grow all the crops for us. All crops are machine harvested, and machine planted. Employee will operate UTVs, ATVs, tractors, semis, combines, sprayers, and trailers for assigned field activities, harvest, loading/unloading grain, transport, and delivery. Employees will use GPS equipment and field computers. Employees will assist with farm maintenance and control. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment.
To harvest watermelon by hand, the worker will walk down the watermelon field rows where the watermelon will be harvested. The worker will first cut the vine off the watermelon with a small knife and turn the watermelon over. The worker will bend over harvesting the ripe watermelon which can vary in weight from 20 to 60 lbs from the ground and tossing the watermelon to the worker next to him and this worker will toss the watermelon to the next worker and so on, until the watermelon is then tossed to the person inside the bus who will place the watermelon on the floor. Packing: When the bus is full, it will be taken to the packing house where the workers will unload the watermelon and put it in a conveyer belt that will transport the watermelon into the packing house where it will be separated by size, labeled and packed.\n\nNote: The packing house is located inside the Farm and more than 50% of the product processed is produced by the Fixed Site Employer\n\n The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the picking process rapidly, a one month experience in this type of work is required, the employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools.\n\nEmployees may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations.\n\nWorkers will perform various duties to plant, cultivate harvest, pack, grade, repack produce grown on the employer’s farm. This may include preparing ground/field for planting by removing rocks, sticks, trees, and brush. Workers may also be required to install and move irrigation pipe/systems. Workers may be required to start various plant and bedding plant seedlings in a greenhouse. Workers will pack, grade and repack produce, load trucks, and perform maintenance on the farm including mowing, using backpack sprayers. Workers must follow their employer’s instructions to ensure all sanitation procedures are followed. \n\nCantaloupes, Pumpkins, Gourds, Pie Pumpkins, Squash and Watermelons: Workers will be expected to punch and make holes to prepare the black plastic for planting plugs. Workers must be careful not to damage the tender young plugs. Workers will be expected to perform routine maintenance activities including pulling weeds and cleaning drip irrigation equipment. At harvest, workers will be expected to select the melons based on the standard disclosed to the worker by the supervisor. Workers will walk along rows and cut melons according to size, color, shape, and degree of maturity using a knife. May carry to trailer or windrow for loading at a later time. Also, the workers will be expected to grade, sort, and place in shipping containers. After harvest is completed, workers will be required to remove mature melon vines from the plastic as well as preparing the plastic for the next planting cycle, if applicable. May also be required to remove old or damaged plastic and irrigation drip tape along with any other trash, rocks, or debris from the planting areas. Workers will assist in preparation of field areas prior to installation of new plastic and drip tape. \n\nSweet Corn: Workers will plant, cultivate and harvest vegetables. Workers will be required to remove weeds by hand or with a hoe. Workers will bend and stoop to pick vegetables according to size, color, shape and degree of maturity and place into field containers. Workers may carry full container weighing approximately fifty (50) lbs. and empty into field bin or load onto trailer. May be required to pull and discard culls as directed by supervisor. Pickers will take care not to bruise or scar produce. Works may also be required to cut corn stalks and bundling. Pre-harvest activities may include staking, tying, training, transplanting, cutting with bundling and pruning. Workers will stand on feet for long periods of time. Workers are required to work in fields when plants are wet with dew or rain. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from forty (40) to over one hundred (100) degrees.\n\n

Attach farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor and drive tractor in field to till soil and plant / cultivate crop. Perform variety of other duties such as lubricating and repairing farm machinery. May plan and schedule plowing, cultivating and harvesting operations. Plant, cultivate, harvest, & pack vegetables (boxes, buckets & crates). Lay plastic, setting plants, weeding (w/ hoe & by hand), driving stakes, grading / sorting and activities associated with vegetable production. Assist in set-up of product for sale of crop.\n\n\nAlternative Work;\nGeneral farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. To harvest watermelon or vegetables or Cabbage by hand, the worker will walk down the field rows where the product will be harvested. The worker will first cut the vine off the watermelon or vegetable or Cabbage with a small knife and place the vegetable in their bucket. Additional information for Vegetables and Cabbage: worker will carry a bucket or bin up and down field, buckets and bins can weigh up to 80lbs, once bucket/bin is full worker will take it to the field truck and pick up empty container and repeat. Workers on vegetable truck will empty buckets/bins into larger bins. Packing: When the trailer is full, it will be taken to the packing house where the workers will unload the product, put it in a convener belt that will transport the product into the packing house where it will be separated by size, labeled and packed by workers. \n\nDriver will move/drive in field buses only. Driver will drive harvesting (cut downs) buses through the field roads only, drivers will not be allowed to drive on public roads. Drivers will drive the length of the field as many time as needed to fill buses with product. Drivers will move at a slow pace a the field workers will be hand loading the harvesting bus being driven. Drivers will then park full buses at the entrance/exit of the field and retrieve an empty to bus to repeat the process of filling a harvesting bus.\n\n\n
The agricultural job includes the duties associated with harvesting, and packaging pumpkins, watermelons, cantaloupes, squash, and packing. Perform manual labor to hand cut, pack, and re-pack harvested products. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. PUMPKIN, CANTALOUPE, AND WATERMELON – Use hand tools such as: shovels, hoes, brooms, scissors, shears, and knives. Duties include cleaning, loading, and unloading pumpkins and watermelons. Measure, weigh and count products. Workers may perform manual labor to pull plastic and weeds from the fields. Workers may be asked to operate the harvested products bus, in fields. SQUASH - Workers will be assigned a row or series of rows and will be required to bend over and lean to select and pick products according to criteria described and demonstrated by managers, such as size, color, and maturity, and place them in field containers. Workers will be required to stack containers in trucks and unload. PACKINGHOUSE - Workers will be required to perform miscellaneous packing housework, including grading, clean-up, stacking packed cartons, and constructing boxes. Packinghouse, located on the farm, owned by Mouzin Brothers, to which, only their products, harvested daily, will be going in/out of packinghouse. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Detasseling seed corn, remove rogue plants, weeds and volunteer corn plants from seed corn production fields in INDIANA and ILLINOIS. Detassel Corn – Must be able to walk miles per day while pulling all tassels from plants within the designated female rows, including tassels on tiller/sucker plants. Tassels will be pulled as they emerge and before shedding pollen. Rogueing - Workers will remove all rogues or off-type plants from within and between seed cornrows. Clean-up Detasseling -Workers will be required to cleanup all tassels or part tassels that remain from plants after detasseling machines have covered the designated female rows. Workers may also be required to husk, sort during harvest. Workers will perform seed corn receiving, silage, sorting, and dryer load out duties as it pertains to harvest seed corn crop and kernels. OFLC Administrator publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate regardless of rate increases or decreases. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules and ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.
APPLES HAND HARVEST: Worker will hand harvest numerous varieties of apples according to established company procedures accounting for difference in the treatment of different varieties. Worker will attach harness, bucket or bag and pick fruit while standing on the ground and higher branches while safely standing on a 5-16 foot ladder. Worker must visually inspect harvest bucket and bulk bins before each use to ensure cleanliness. Worker will pick by grasping fruit with the hands and removing from the tree in a motion so as not to harm or pull off adjacent buds or immature fruit on the tree branches. Worker will pick apples and place them in their 1/2 Bushel harvest bucket. The worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, for the purpose of detasseling seed corn, sorting, removing rogue plants, weeding, and volunteer corn plants from seed corn production fields. In order to perform this kind of work, the worker must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather, and be in possession of the requisite strength, and endurance, while working quickly and skillfully with their hands. The employer will provide the tools necessary (if applicable) to perform the job described without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker's refusal, negligent failure to return the tools, or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools.\n\nQuality Checker: The worker may be asked to check the quality by moving down a row checking quality to ensure that all seed tassels were sufficiently removed. They will report issues to the supervisor.\n\nCorn Sorter: Performing duties in the harvest complex will involve removing damaged, diseased, moldy, and rogue ears of seed corn from the sorting belt. Placing unhusked ears of corn on the return belt.\n\nGrader: Grader will support the production process with labor as needed in the sorting area. [Follow oral or written instructions]. Sort out all nonconforming material, i.e. husks/stalks, damaged/moldy product, rogues and off-types, inert material (weeks & refuse). Sort out all tightly husked material to be conveyed back to the husking beds and reworked. Work in conjunction with other sorting personnel with kernel clean in the sorting area as needed. Sorters are responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly, while performing reach motion with arms and hands, twisting at the waist, stoop, talk and hear - while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to continuous elevated noise levels and moving conveyors.

This may include preparing ground/field for planting by removing rocks, sticks, trees, and brush. Workers may also be required to install and move irrigation pipe/systems. Workers may be required to start various plant and bedding plant seedlings in a greenhouse. Workers will pack, grade and repack produce, load trucks, and perform maintenance on the farm including mowing, using backpack sprayers. Workers must follow their employer’s instructions to ensure all sanitation procedures are followed. \n\nCantaloupes, Pumpkins, Gourds, Pie Pumpkins, Squash and Watermelons: Workers will be expected to punch and make holes to prepare the black plastic for planting plugs. Workers must be careful not to damage the tender young plugs. Workers will be expected to perform routine maintenance activities including pulling weeds and cleaning drip irrigation equipment. At harvest, workers will be expected to select the melons based on the standard disclosed to the worker by the supervisor. Workers will walk along rows and cut melons according to size, color, shape, and degree of maturity using a knife. May carry to trailer or windrow for loading at a later time. Also, the workers will be expected to grade, sort, and place in shipping containers. After harvest is completed, workers will be required to remove mature melon vines from the plastic as well as preparing the plastic for the next planting cycle, if applicable. May also be required to remove old or damaged plastic and irrigation drip tape along with any other trash, rocks, or debris from the planting areas. Workers will assist in preparation of field areas prior to installation of new plastic and drip tape. \n\nSweet Corn: Workers will plant, cultivate and harvest vegetables. Workers will be required to remove weeds by hand or with a hoe. Workers will bend and stoop to pick vegetables according to size, color, shape and degree of maturity and place into field containers. Workers may carry full container weighing approximately fifty (50) lbs. and empty into field bin or load onto trailer. May be required to pull and discard culls as directed by supervisor. Pickers will take care not to bruise or scar produce. Works may also be required to cut corn stalks and bundling. Pre-harvest activities may include staking, tying, training, transplanting, cutting with bundling and pruning. Workers will stand on feet for long periods of time. Workers are required to work in fields when plants are wet with dew or rain. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from forty (40) to over one hundred (100) degrees.\n\nTractor Operation During Field Operations\nDuring field operations workers may be required to drive a tractor pulling a wagon through the field or between fields incidental to the job being performed. Workers may also operate various farm licensed vehicles, and farm equipment (including sprayers, forklifts etc.). Workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the tractor before driving the tractor. Works will also perform maintenance of farm equipment. Tractors should be driven in a manner to protect operator, other workers, products, trees, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination.\n\n
Worker will plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. Worker thins, hoes, and weeds row crops using hand implements. Workers will work with packaging as needed. Certain harvesting standards will apply and the employer will train on these specific standards for two days or eight working hours. Some workers will use equipment such as tractor's sprayers, cultivators and mowers. Must have minimum of 3 months verifiable work experience planting, cultivating, and harvesting fruits and vegetables.

Clean/maintain work area.\n\nPrune, trim, and perform other general plant maintenance. Water or irrigate plants, and apply fertilizer or other chemicals. Maintain irrigation systems. Tie/position plants by tying or wrapping as necessary. Wrap plants with burlap and other coverings as necessary. Count, inventory, and grade plants and trees. Pack, label, tag, pull, sort, and store plants by variety.\n\nGrade, size, and sort product according to color, shape, size, appearance, feel, and/or quality, in accordance with supervisor's instructions and employer standards. Inspect products for damage/defects and discard inferior products and foreign matter. Place product in bins/trays and other containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Weigh products and record weight and/or grade. Handle product carefully to prevent damage. Operate equipment safely, with or without direction. Must follow quality control standards and production procedures. Clean/sanitize work station and equipment.\n\nMust have sufficient hand and finger dexterity to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Must be able to differentiate colors, textures, and other attributes of product to distinguish varieties and identify defects.\n\nInstall/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches. Install and remove levee gates. \n\nApply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants. Apply fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plant related treatments at the correct times depending on plant type, growth, climate and crop conditions.\n\nWorkers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer’s products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination.\n\nMow, cut, and weed fields. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. Build/repair fences.\n\nMust wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or other durable foot wear. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work.\n\nOutdoor work required when plants are wet, or during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker’s ability to perform the job. Work is done outdoors for long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standing and/or walking, repetitive movements, and frequent bending and/or stooping. Workers must be able to handle, lift, and carry heavy or bulky objects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified lifting requirements.
Worker must possess the physical strength and endurance (ability to continue or last) to repeat the harvest process though out the workday, working quickly and skillfully to perform activities assigned during that activity. Workers may not leave trash, or other discarded items in work areas or vehicles but must dispose of such items in provided receptacles. Workers must wash hands with soap and water after all bathroom and meal breaks. Allergies to varieties of ragweed, goldenrod, insecticides, related agricultural chemicals, etc., may affect worker’s ability to perform the work described herein. \n\nSanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Workers will install plastic, and transplant watermelon & cantaloupe. During planting workers will be seating behind the planting machine or walking transplanting the watermelon and cantaloupe plants into the ground by hand from a tray that holds the plants. At harvest, workers will be expected to select the melons based on the standard disclosed to the worker by the supervisor. Workers will walk along rows and cut melons according to size, color, shape and degree of maturity using a knife. Workers will load harvested watermelons onto flatbed truck. Workers may be required to unload watermelons, onto a conveyor belt. Also, the workers will be expected to grade, sort, and place in shipping containers. Workers will also turn the vines of growing melons. Workers may be required to remove weeds by hand or with a hoe during the season. Workers will be required to perform post-harvest field clean up. Workers will pull out plastic and load on to small trailers according to their supervisor’s instructions. \n\nWorkers will be sitting on a seat behind the plastic machine layer making sure the plastic roll does not run out and lays secure into the ground. Workers will also be walking behind where plastic has been laid out into the ground to make sure it is properly secured into the ground by using a shovel adding dirt where needed. \n\n\nDuring certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to accomplish a certain task. When engage in teamwork activities workers must coordinate with other members of the team to accomplish the task. \n\nProperly licenses workers may drive trucks or vehicles to transport workers.\n\nEmployer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malinger, or recalcitrant worker who is physically able but does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product. \n\nFarm, Field, and Shed Sanitation: All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors and other farm and shed sanitation duties. \n
Farm hand-tilling, planting, weeding, pruning, harvesting, maintenance of equipment and buildings. Our employees help with the following crops: Christmas trees, pumpkins, gourds, corn, vegetable truck patch, blueberries, apples, peaches, pears, and fall foliage. This will entail cultivating soil, planting specific crops, maintaining, harvesting and storing crops. This breaks down as follows: Planting-15%; Weeding/Maintenance of Fields-10%; Harvesting-15%; Maintenance of Equipment-10%; Maintenance of Buildings-20%; Maintenance of Properties-15%; Pruning-15%.
Burley Tobacco: Duties to include, but not limited to: greenhouse care, setting, topping, oiling, cutting, housing and stripping. Workers will be trained for a period of two days (14 hours) after which the worker will be expected to cut 100 sticks per hour - does not include dropping sticks in field. \nDark Fired Tobacco: Duties to include, but not limited to: greenhouse care, setting, topping, oiling, cutting, housing and stripping. Workers will be required to cut wood and carry to barn to fire the tobacco. Wooden slabs covered with sawdust are placed under the tobacco that is hanging in barn. Slabs are fired to smoke the tobacco and is repeated until the tobacco becomes the appropriate color. Worker will remove remaining ashes after the tobacco is fired. Worker is required to cut/spike 50-60 sticks per hour.\nAir Cured Tobacco: Duties to include, but not limited to: greenhouse care, setting, topping, oiling, cutting, housing and stripping.\nOther Related Duties for all types of tobacco: Workers may chop weeds between plants with hoe; remove tops and suckers from plants, apply side dressing.\nThe employer will train new workers in seeding, setting cutting, housing and stripping tobacco for a period of two days (14 working hours). A trained worker is expected to cut 100 sticks per hour for burley tobacco and 50-60 sticks per hour for dark fired tobacco.\n\n\nForage: Duties to include, but not limited to: Soil preparation, operating tillage equipment, cutting equipment. Perform variety of other duties such as husking and shelling corn, lubricating and repairing farm machinery and unloading grain onto conveyors to storage bins and elevators. Assist in set-up of product for sale of crop.\n\n\nPlanting, Cultivating, & Harvesting Vegetables/Fruits: Duties to include, but not limited to: Workers may drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store vegetables. Attach farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor and drive tractor in field to till soil and plant / cultivate crop. Perform variety of other duties such as lubricating and repairing farm machinery. May plan and schedule plowing, cultivating and harvesting operations. Assist in set-up of product for sale of crop.\n\n\nAlternative Work;\nGeneral farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. Includes, but not limited to, preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, dropping sticks in field, maintenance of tools & equipment, and other work as directly related to the crop activities for which the worker is hired. Also includes fixing, clearing, and painting of fences / barns. Assist in livestock operation, duties may include, but limited to, feeding, assisting in birthing, tagging, vaccinations, moving from paddock to paddock, sorting and manure removal. Such work will be offered when climate or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed above and only after the first week guarantee is met\n\n\n
Workers will perform assign duties as instructed by their supervisor, Rogueing: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the corn plants that are from a different species leaving the field ready for detasseling. Seed Corn Sorting: After the machine harvests the seed corn from the fields, the corn cobs will be put on a conveyer belt so the workers can sort the corn cubs by size and class. Corn detasseling: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the spikes that are left after the detasseling machine passes through. Workers will remove the spikes and drop them on the ground. Hand weeding: Workers will walk through the corn fields pooling the weeds around the corn plants. The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands, a one month experience in this type of work is required The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools. \n\nEmployees may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employers control. These periods can occur any time throughout the season, if workers request a leave of absence during these periods of no work, the hours will be deducted from the hours offered under the ETA 790A.\n\nA copy of the work contract or a copy of the ETA 790 in lieu of a work contract, and any modifications, will be provided to the H-2A worker no later than the time at which the worker applies for the Visa, or to a worker in corresponding employment, no later than on the day work commences. For an H-2A worker going from an H-2A employer to a subsequent H-2A employer, a copy of the contract will be provided no later than the time an offer of employment is made by the subsequent H-2A employer.

However, workers may be requested to ten (10) hours per day depending on the conditions in the fields and the maturity of the crops. Also, workers may be requested to work on federal holidays and their Sabbath but will not be required to do so. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. \nDown time: Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employer’s control. Workers will walk along assigned row of seed corn and removes remaining tassels from stalk on both sides of row. Care must be taken to remove tassel completely without damaging stalks. Perform any other duties involved in detasseling and rouging of seed corn and maintenance of fields and production areas. \nBean & Corn Rougeing & Weeding: Workers will walk seeds fields to identify and remove rogue plants and discarding them as directed. \nSeed Corn Harvest & Sort: Workers will perform general duties associated with harvesting seed corn. Workers will help unload see cord from trucks and trailer by hand and using a rake, watch the dryers and may be requested to take corn samples and record weights. By way of example and not limitation power equipment may include tractors, planters, sprayers, cultivators and other equipment. Workers will be expected to be able to operate agricultural equipment with or without direction.\nWork is to be done for long periods of time. Workers will assist in loading trucks with packaged product weighing up to and including 75 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet for long periods of time. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, related chemicals, etc. may affect workers’ ability to perform the job. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day, working in fields. Temperatures may range from 10 to 100 F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. \nWhile the employer does not require prospective applicants to take and pass a drug test prior to a hiring decision, the employer has a no-exceptions drug free workplace policy. The employer will require every employee to take and pass an employer paid drug test upon reasonable suspicion of use and/or after a worker has an acccident. If an employee tests positive, he/she is immediately terminated and paid for all hours worked between the first date of employment and the date of termination, if any. In the case of a non-local or foreign worker who is terminated for failure to pass a drug test, the employer will arrange least-cost transportation to the worker's place of recruitment, at the worker's expense. \nSince the employer’s place of business, a farm market, is frequented by the general public, the employer requires that all newly hired employees take and pass an employer-paid background check. All background checks are conducted uniformly after an initial job offer has been extended and accepted by the new hire. If a conviction is discovered, a determination will be made whether the conviction is related to the position for which the individual is applying or would present safety or secrity risks before an employment decision is made. A criminal conviction does not necessarily automatically bar an applicant from employment. Any employee terminated will be paid for all hours worked between the first date of employment and the date of termination, if any. In the case of a foreign worker who is terminated for cause resulting from findings of the background check, the employer will arrange least-cost transportation to the worker's place of recruitment, at the worker's expense.
On farm, unload pre-manufactured aviary parts and components for aviary system that houses chickens for egg laying. Using impacts and scissor lifts, install manure drives, erect aviary frames, connect bridges for floor system. By hand and with basic hand tools such as impacts, drills, hammers, and pliers, install bird floor meshes, feeding systems (troughs and chains), water lines with catch cups, perches, doors and ramps, lighting (installed but not connected). These activities involve lifting and carrying, bending and stooping into the aviary system. Install ventilation system including fans, stir fans, and tunnel doors by lifting them into the framed openings and fastening using impact and screws, hang heaters from ceiling using equipment to lift and chains to fasten to the ceiling, install external grain bins using forklift to lift each section into place and man in scissor lift for fastening, using proper safety gear. Install feed lines that connect from the grain bins to the feed system in the aviary.

This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations.\n\nCrops: Tomatoes, Strawberries, Cucumbers, Squash, Bell Pepper, Eggplant, Watermelon (big and mini), Asparagus, Green Beans, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Sweet Corn, Pumpkin, Zucchini, peaches, blackberries, okra, brassica crops, peppers, flowers. \n\nVehicles: Properly licensed workers may drive trucks, vans, or buses on public roadways. Before any worker is permitted to driver or operate a vehicle, the employer will ensure they have the proper license for that vehicle. Workers may be selected to deliver employers crop to various locations. \n\nHarvesting Standard: When harvesting products, workers must fully fill the picking container. Workers must not bruise products. \n\nPeach Tree Harvest and Maintenance: Workers will help with pruning, thinning, and harvesting peach trees. Spraying chemicals, disposing of old trees and debris will also be part of workers responsibilities. Workers will pick peaches as instructed by the supervisor. Peaches will be picked into hampers/buckets and placed into cardboard boxes or crates. Workers will pick off any cull fruit as well. All equipment necessary to do the tasks at hand will be provided to workers at no cost. \n\nFarm Equipment Operation During Field Operations: Workers may be required to operate tractors, forklifts, and other farm equipment during operations as an incidental activity in the production of crops and crop spraying. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of tractor. Workers must notify supervisor of any mechanical issues. Workers will be required to operate tractors according to instructions and in a manner, that protects the operator, other workers, trees, crops and equipment. Repeated failure to obey operating and safety instructions may result in termination.\n\nWorkers with a valid driver’s license may be required to load, unload and transport employers’ products and/or workers. \nWorkers will transplant, harvest and pack cucumber, yellow and zucchini, Asparagus, bell pepper, eggplant, big watermelon, mini watermelon, tomatoes, strawberries, blackberries, Honeydew and cantaloupe and harvest and pack asparagus, green beans and sweet corn and transplant pumpkin by hand (90%) and machine (10%). Transplant crops by riding a water wheel setter. Walk and hand plant plants into missed holes that are pre-dug by machine. Load plants to be planted and unload plants off of truck. Do a walk-thru to evaluate plants and replant if any bad holes. Direct seeding seeds into holes is another method we could possibly use as well. \n
On farms, unload materials, lay out lumber, tin sheets, trusses and other components for building livestock confinement structures. Build and erect walls and trusses. Lift tin sheets to roof and sheets walls, install doors and caulk structures. Small concrete installation and repair. Clean up job sites. Must be able to lift and carry 75lbs/75yds. 1 month of construction of livestock building experience required.
Vegetables, Cabbage: The worker will have the task of planting vegetable plants, which requires workers to be bent over for long periods of time for many hours per day. The worker, in order to perform this kind of work, must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the picking process rapidly, the employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. To harvest watermelon or vegetables or Cabbage by hand, the worker will walk down the field rows where the product will be harvested. The worker will first cut the vine off the watermelon or vegetable or Cabbage with a small knife and place the vegetable in their bucket. For watermelon: The worker will bend over harvesting the ripe watermelon which can vary in weight from 20lbs to 60lbs from the ground and tossing the watermelon to the worker next to him and this worker will toss the watermelon to the next worker and so on, until the watermelon is then tossed the person inside the bus who will place the watermelon on the floor, loaded buses will be transported by farm field driver to the packing location on the farm. Additional information for Vegetables and Cabbage: worker will carry a bucket or bin up and down field, buckets and bins can weigh up to 80lbs, once bucket/bin is full worker will take it to the field truck and pick up empty container and repeat. Workers on vegetable truck will empty buckets/bins into larger bins. Packing: When the trailer is full, it will be taken to the packing house where the workers will unload the product, put it in a convener belt that will transport the product into the packing house where it will be separated by size, labeled and packed by workers. \n\nDriver will move/drive in field buses only. Driver will drive harvesting (cut downs) buses through the field roads only, drivers will not be allowed to drive on public roads. Drivers will drive the length of the field as many time as needed to fill buses with product. Drivers will move at a slow pace a the field workers will be hand loading the harvesting bus being driven. Drivers will then park full buses at the entrance/exit of the field and retrieve an empty to bus to repeat the process of filling a harvesting bus.\n\n\n

Workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the tractor before driving the tractor. Works will also perform maintenance of farm equipment. Tractors should be driven in a manner to protect operator, other workers, products, trees, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination.\n\nWorkers may be required to transport workers. \n\nDuring certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to accomplish a certain task. We farm 7500 acres of seed corn, soybeans, popcorn, and pumpkins. Employees will be required to operate farm equipment including tractors with GPS software, farm pickup trucks and semi-trucks. We need employees to operate farm equipment during our growing season to complete duties including tillage, planting, spraying, crop maintenance, harvesting, storing commodity and delivering commodities are all the steps of the growing season. Operating large farm equipment and machinery equipped with GPS for cultivating, tilling, fertilizing, planting, moving, storing, harvesting grain and oilseed crops; assisting with silage harvest; move chopped silage from field to storage locations; using front end loaders to load manure on to manure trucks to deliver to fields; operating manure spreaders to spread manure as fertilizer application over ground; washing equipment; driving farm vehicle; minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
The primary job will be working with turfgrass sod (70%) and grain and tomato farming (30%). Each day for turfgrass sod, your main duties will include harvesting sod and loading it onto trucks with a forklift. Also, you will assist customers who come to the field and need sod placed on their truck with a forklift and by hand-stacking the sod rolls onto the customer vehicle. Once daily sod harvest is completed, you may also perform additional duties such as mowing, repairing pallets, organizing the field, irrigation, servicing machinery, and moving equipment. During tomato season, additional duties may include tilling, transplanting, tending the sprayer or fertilizer spreader, sorting harvested tomatoes, harvesting, and delivery of product by semi to processing facility located 2 hours from the farm. For corn and soybeans, additional duties may include tilling, planting, running detassler, male row destruction, spraying, irrigation, and fertilizing, hauling grain, grain cart operating, and servicing machinery. Other duties include performing maintenance on property and equipment, including cleaning the shop, cleaning equipment, power washing, pallet repairs, grading field lanes, mowing roadsides, landscape work around the farm, spraying weeds, tree removal, surface drainage work, grain bin management, servicing irrigation equipment, and drain tile installation.
We need a seasonal employee to assist with all aspects of planting, growing, harvesting, and hauling corn and soybeans. Employee will need to operate farm equipment such a skid-steer loader, excavator, dozer, tile plow, tractors, combines, plow, planters, hand tools and others. Employees will also be transporting crop to the elevator/processing plant, working with the dryers to store the crops. We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop farming operation where we grow popcorn, soybeans, and essential oil peppermint. Employees will operate farm equipment to till soil and assist with crop planting. Employees will need to operate a crop sprayer after showing that they are capable. Worker will plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. Worker thins, hoes, and weeds row crops using hand implements. Workers will work with packaging as needed. Certain harvesting standards will apply and the employer will train on these specific standards for two days or eight working hours. Some workers will use equipment such as tractor,s sprayers, cultivators and mowers. Drives/operates farm machinery, plant, cultivate, spray, fertilize, harvest, store grain crops. Attach farm implements, e.g. plow, disc, drill to tractor, till soil, plant and cultivate grain. Tows harvesting equipment, drives/operates self-propelled combine to harvest crops. Performs duties like lubricating, repairing farm machinery and transports produce to elevator or storage area.
Operate farm equipment, tractors, combine, sprayer to: till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, & harvest crops. Drives semi-truck to transport product to elevator or storage area. Basic literacy reading and math skills, 3 months experience required. Must have or be able to obtain driver’s license. Increase or bonus may be possible based on experience and merit.
Crops/Commodities: \nPotatoes. \nThis job requires a minimum of 12 months of verifiable prior experience performing duties associated with operating and performing routine maintenance on GPS equipped potato farming equipment, and/or 12 months of verifiable experience repairing and maintaining electrical systems and hardware of pivots. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. \n\nDriving tractors and planters, will plant, cultivate, and harvest potatoes. Workers will drive and operate one or more GPS equipped farm machines, such as tractors, Bottom Switch plows, Grimme planters, Windrowers, line equipment with holding tanks, dry brushers, grading tables, harvesters, pumps, tilling equipment, trucks, holding tanks, case-loaders, pivots, pilers, windrowers, Dammer Dyke s (cultivators) and other mechanized, electrically powered or motor-driven equipment, on farms or in farm equipment repair shops. Workers will operate the farm machinery, equipment and vehicles. Workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the equipment before driving the equipment. Workers will be expected to be able to operate equipment, with or without direction, in a manner that protects the operator, visitors, other employees, crops, trees, facilities and equipment. Failure to comply with operating and safety standards may result in termination. This is a very demanding and competitive business in which quality specifications must be rigorously adhered to. The equipment workers will be operating and maintaining is expensive and dangerous. Workers are expected to follow the employer’s requests to not only prevent damage to the equipment, but to also prevent injuries to workers. Any equipment damaged by a worker’s failure to follow instructions or damaged due to malice will be charged to the worker. \n \nWorkers may hitch soil conditioning implements, such as plow or harrow to tractor, and operate tractor and towed implement to furrow and grade soil. Workers will drive tractors and operate designated towed machines, such as drill or manure spreader, to plant, fertilize, dust and spray crops. Prepares harvesting machine by adjusting speeds of cutters, blowers and conveyors and height of cutting head or depth of digging blades according to type, height, weight and condition of crop being harvested, and contour of terrain. Attaches towed or mounted-type harvesting machine to tractor using hand tools or drives self-propelled harvesting machine to cut, pull up, dig, thresh, clean, chop, bag or bundle crops. \n \nWorkers will perform irrigation activities, including setting up and moving irrigation pipes and equipment. \n \nWhile the workers main duties are associated with operation of the potato growing equipment, workers will also be required to perform routine maintenance on the equipment, as well. Examines and listens to machines, motors, gasoline and diesel engines and equipment for operational defects and dismantles defective units, using hand-tools. Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and shop tools. Workers will replace components, such as carburetors, fuel pumps, generators, ignition points and spark plugs. Reassembles, adjusts and lubricates machines and equipment to ensure efficient operation. May install and repair wiring and motors to maintain farm electrical system. May assist other workers in more complex maintenance tasks, such as overhaul of machinery and equipment. May construct and repair buildings and other farm structures. May assemble and erect new farm machinery and equipment.\n \nWorkers will be required to prepare farm land for planting. This includes removing trash, trees, stumps, rocks and any other debris or material that will interfere with planting and harvesting crops.
Disinfect and clean bins for incoming potato seed; receive seed and place in bins at 39 degrees F; warm seed to 50 degrees F; cut seed into piece size; treat and heal seed; move seed to the field for planting; operate GPS equipped tractors and implements to cultivate and fertilize crop acres, plant potatoes; control irrigation to water potatoes in warm weather; operate harvesting machines to harvest and store potatoes at correct moisture content.
